Aston Martin Cygnet axed? There was a certain logic to the Aston Martin Cygnet. After all, makers of luxury and supercars do need to find a way to trim their average Co2 emissions across their range, and there’s a potential market for a pretend Aston Martin for ‘er indoors.

When we first reported that Aston Martin were buying in the Toyota iQ to turn it in to a ‘Mini-Me’ Aston Martin – the Aston Martin Cygnet – we were pretty sure that AM were for real, even though they did call it a Concept. That feeling was more than affirmed a couple of weeks ago when Aston Martin released a few official pictures of the Cygnet and gave us some production targets – 2000 a year in Europe. But only sold to existing AM customers.

The Ford Figo is a last generation Ford Fiesta built for emerging markets in India, but this new Ford Figo Concept appears to be a next generation Ford KA with a boot. Looking just like the new Ford KA Concept from Brazil – which got a European outing in Barcelona in December - the Figo Concept is a next-generation Ford KA with a an extra bit on the back and aimed at emerging markets. That ‘emerging markets’ aim seems clear when one of the major selling points, according to Ford, is the flexible architecture of the power door mirrors that makes it far less likely the mirror will be ripped off when hit by a passing car.
